Red Bicycle

2021·Screenwriter

An unproduced short film written during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the project to stop before production. The story follows Noya, a young boy from a low-income background who dreams of owning a bicycle, leading to a series of humorous yet meaningful encounters with a frugal Chinese-Indonesian shop owner named Ko Afung. Through their dynamic, the film explores social class and cultural diversity in Indonesia, balancing comedy with subtle emotional depth. In the end, after failing to afford the bicycle he desires, Noya is unexpectedly given a more expensive one by Ko Afung, turning the story into a reflection on empathy, generosity, and humanity across differences.
